Thanks, Teresa Farney, Food Editor, Colo Springs, CO, Gazette newspaper; fine dining, canon city, co

March 3rd, 2010

All the advertising, blogging in the world will never replace the endorsement of a person in the food industry, reporting for a newspaper, thank you Teresa for the article and your description of the Queen Anne on channel 5/30 yesterday. see  http://www.gazette.com/articles/took-94977-linda-dream.html

Linda and I are constantly amazed at how many people are truly caring individuals, especially when they know you are following a dream or desire to serve others. We struggle with local media attention and get blessed by those outside our community, ie teresa with the gazette; mary with the chieftain.

Next up, St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, please see http://www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com/newstpatricksdinner.html

3/2/10 email blast to four hundred customers, family, friends, listing March/April Special Events at the Queen Anne, please see

…………………………………………………………………………
The calm before the storm; the ‘09 holidays were a blessing, however, being open for 56 straight days took it toll and a little slower January allowed us to get caught up.

Now, away we go into one of our busy times of the year, “Valentines” on Saturday night, 2 seatings (sold out, but taking backup reservations,) and Sunday Brunch, 2 seatings, (limited seats available at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m.) Please call early as we expect the brunch to sell out.

We love Valentines weekend as it focuses men and women on romance, which is exactly what the Queen Anne is all about. Our dinners are memories, experiences in time, atmosphere and time to reflect on the gift of life, being together. I told the guys, last year, as they were leaving, “we did our job, elegance, food, champagne, rose, framed picture,” now, go do your job in making that woman feel special. And, directly following Valentines, we have our wedding annivesary, Feb. 17th, completing 42 years together; wow, Linda is a saint to have put up with me for that long.

After that, Saturday, Feb. 20th, 2:00 p.m. we have our monthly baking/cooking demonstration, this month on “Unique Cake Baking,”
see http://www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com/newbakingdemosat220.html
for details. Make your reservation early, limited seating.

Then, Wednesday, 6 p.m. we will have our first annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, see http://www.thecanoncityqueenanne.com/newstpatricksdinner.html for details, limited seating, make your reservation early,

Continuing on into April, as requested by our loyal brunch customers, our Easter Brunch; May, Mother’s Day Brunch (always sold out 30 days in advance;) June, our 1st Annual Father’s Day Steak Fry, which we expect will be a highlight for some lucky men.

Please remember that the Queen Anne is your perfect place for an Anniversary, Birthday Celebration, we will create a memory of a life time.

A tribute to Bill, Tammy, their walk of faith, marriage; restaurants, canon city, co.

February 3rd, 2010

Linda and I had the privilege to serve a High/Dinner Tea, last night, to dear friends, Bill and Tammy.

These are very special people as they walk their faith and honor God with their marriage.

Understanding their commitment to each other and their faith in being physically healed brings one to their knees.

We love both of you, we thank you for being a part of our lives, we hope to serve and celebrate with you on an annual basis.

Families breaking bread together.....

Families breaking bread together.....

Since Thanksgiving Dinner, where we served 90+ customers a sit down meal, through the Christmas/Holiday teas there has been a theme of generations breaking bread together.

Sometimes it is a grandmother, mother, daughter, grand daughter, great grand daughter coming to an Afternoon/Lunch tea at 11 a.m. or Christmas tea w/dessert bar at 2 p.m.  You can hear a renewing of the care for each other as they have a time out to share something special to each other, “time.”

Sometimes it is a husband/wife, boy friend/girl friend and in many cases it is a family that represents generations, including the men.  During these times it has been a blessing to watch grand parents, parents and children participate in the enjoyment of fine dining and “time together.”

While men are normally uncomfortable, at first, the women and girls get giggly at the beautiful surroundings and almost castle feeling/being around beautiful items, being served.  However, it doesn’t take the men long to learn the value in brining their loved ones to a place that gives them joy vs a typical chain or fast food restaurant.  If there is one thing of enjoyment, in dealing with the pains of owning a facility, dealing with debt, rules, regulations, unhappy customers coming through the door/from time to time, it is seeing this generational family time unfold.

Case in point: we had a three generation dinner (six adults, two children) recently with two thirds of the family traveling many miles to have high/dinner tea with mom/dad, grandma, pa.  what caught our attention was how a grand daughter searched the internet for the right place, arranged the meal selections to the wants of her parents, grand parents (they were precise down to the type of soft drink choices.)  we served the five course meal and enjoyed getting to know them, resulting in grandma sharing her joy in being together and being served.  during our sharing time together the daughter shared how she was a medical miracle and it caught my attention in how proud the family was that she was blessed.  while they professed a faith, they were clear to express how damaged they were with traditional religion, the church of today; and that was sad as we are experiencing a period of time in our faith where the church we attend is so full of a real service mentality.

December 28th, 2009

Once again Linda and I were treated to time with the family at one of our most blessed times of the year, Christmas.

While +360 days of the year we are blessed with wonderful customers and friends, we treasure these short times when we gather as family; put down the pains and strains of life.  Thank you kids, grand kids, for making this a special time.

Happy New Year to all, Al, Linda

Happy Birthday Pastor Gwen

Happy Birthday Pastor Gwen

What an honor to have Pastor Gwen and her “lady flock,” join us for her birthday.

We know pastors give a lot back to their flock and community, it was special to see a part of them celebrate a special day with their loved pastor.

Blessings,
