Continuing monthly special interest food and beverage demonstrations, The Ca�on City Queen Anne Tea House will host "The Art of Bread Making, Sour Dough" Saturday, January 30th, 2:00 p.m. Reservations Required, 719 275-5354, $30.00 per person (capacity 30,) to include scones, devonshire cream, fresh brewed hot tea, recipes, tips and take home samples.
We are proud to bring Laura Carey back to focus on the art in making sour dough bread, said Linda Ballard, known in town as the "tea lady." Laura did the September, 2009 baking demonstration on Honey Wheat bread and the attendees requested she return for sour dough.
The "The Art of Bread Making, Sour Dough" forum will provide education in how to prepare and bake sour dough bread, as well as other tips, recipes, just in time for Valentines, said, Linda Ballard. We will focus on techniques, basics to help the home baker make things look and taste delicious.
Linda continued, "you will get to taste some of the bread made during the forum, enjoy tea, scones and take home a loaf for two to share with family or friends.
The tea house is equipped with a media center system allowing for the broadcasting of the cooking demonstration to the themed tea rooms, allowing guests to enjoy tea and watch the demonstration or join the crew in the demonstration kitchen for more of a hands on feeling.

9/1/09, The Art of Bread Making was held on Saturday, August 29th, 2:00 p.m. with a dozen attending the kitchen demonstration in making Honey Wheat bread. One of the keys in bread baking is to allow a fondness for creating something that is fun, as well as healthy.
The Queen Anne tea house seats thirty with each room having a HDTV that captures the cooking demonstration which is broadcast from a Paula Deen look-a-like kitchen in the Queen Anne. Guests are served hot loose leaf tea, scones, devonshire cream during cooking demonstration and all guests get to sample the cooking, as well as take home cooking tips, recipes, and samples of the daily event.
All events are held on Saturday, 2:00 p.m., replacing that Afternoon Tea with the Special Event, pricing per guest is $30.00, with the following events and dates,
June 27th, "Baking at 5,626 feet above sea level,"
July 25th, "Scone Making Demonstration and Recipe Contest,"
August 29th, "Bread Making, special guest host, Laura Carey,"
September 26th, "Tea Tasting,"
October 24th, "Cake Decorating Challenge."

"In addition to these events we plan on real, hands on cooking programs for those desiring to sharpen their skills in specific baking and cooking areas," said Linda. We are focusing on programs for up to eight guests at a time and in some cases full daily events.
The Canon City Queen Anne Tea House is housed in an elegant 1889 Queen Anne Victoria house, located at 813 Macon Avenue, Canon City, in the historic district.
